some kind of position indicator / inclinometer relative to gravity or a given GPS marker

I tend to loose my sense of orienteering inside tunnels or when making strange manouvres with my ship so that I can't realize where is the gravity pulling me. This generally ends badly. I would like some kind inclinometer on HUD to help me realize where is the ground and the sky. This could be implemented by having it capable of locking not only on the planet over which I am flying but also on a GPS marker, so that I would know in which direction I am travelling. Does it make sense? Is it even possible?
