Plates and beams

At least for blocks measuring 0.5x0.5x0.5m, there could be flat plates measuring 2.5x2.5x0.5m and 5x5x0.5m and long beams measuring 2.5x0.5x0.5m; 5x0.5x0.5m; 10x0.5x0.5m; and 25x0.5x0.5m. Similarly, for grid blocks (trusses), there could be long beams with dimensions of 2.5x0.5x0.5m; 5x0.5x0.5m; 10x0.5x0.5m; and 25x0.5x0.5m, or also 10x2.5x2.5m and 25x2.5x2.5m.

This would greatly simplify the construction of larger objects...

I do want plates for flooring, without having weird designs on them like interior walls have. And beams could be aesthetically used as well. We even already have some beams.

Either this

or add more building tools to facilitate creating different "armor" shapes, like long pillars, planes, ramps, cylinders and so on. Also, armor blocks should automatically collapse into bigger armor blocks if possible. For example, if I make a 2.5x2.5x2.5 cube out of a detailing block, it should (optionally) collapse into a single big armor cube to save on PCU. Same, for angled shapes. Say you are creating a plane, you should be able to incline it to go along 2x1 (or even 3x1,4x1... and so on), and the correct slope blocks should be automatically used for the plane. You should be able to set the thickness of that plane and whether to place sloped blocks on each side, and the "filament" is also collapsed to use the biggest armor sized block if possible. Armor will have more interesting skins in the future I suppose, so we can make all sorts of walls and flooring out of it.

SE1 beams were some of my favorite blocks to build with. Easy way to add interest and detail.
