I think trains that work for large spaceships would be best since it doesn't require complex pathing. Similar to how elevators might work you can use trains to animate the inside of your spaceship horizontally and it would be interesting to see a gun platform inside a large carrier ship connected to a train. Not only can you have a gun platform, or have the train repair a particular section etc...
