Icy Bodies

Another set of bodies that could occur more often in the outer sectors of the map would be icy bodies. These would primarily be composed of white gravel with icy patches of frozen material such as standard water ice, nitrogen ice, and other ices that normally would appear as a gas. These could serve as an alternate source of these materials, as an alternative to gas mining.

Another idea is that a nebulous region could have more of these mixed in with the regular asteroids found in the area. Outgassing from those icy bodies could explain why there is such a region.

Outgassing could also serve as a hazard, not only occasionally shooting out chunks of stone but also serving to provide thrust to passing spacecraft. A ship could be pushed off course by such a jet, which could cause a Space Engineer to realize that they are sliding sideways into an asteroid or icy body without realizing it. This could add danger to a nebula region, in addition to hidden planetoids and reduced visibility.
