Beyond the tutorial.

There should be a large selection of Stories / Careers. Choose a character with a backstory!

Each starts you off with a different vehicle, in a different location.

How much money/debt do you have?

How what is your reputation, law or pirate, aligned with a particular faction?

What tech/skills do you have?

Then there would be a unique mission path for the chosen career.

Replayability!

Of course there should still be freedom to pivot and change your path. Start as a trader, become a pirate, get the pirate missions.

These careers/stories can be released one at a time as the game develops. Like if economy gets added, you can add Trader story/career after that.

Choosing a career, there could be sub-options. Like if you go with pirate, maybe there still multiple ships and starting locations to choose from.

So in the end, hundreds of possibilities!

  • Pirate
  • Bounty hunter
  • Trader
  • Engineer
  • Explorer
  • Miner
  • Refiner/Producer
  • Space Taxi

Backstories like that...

Hi, I like this idea of having different available "Premade Progression Starts" where we could choose where to start with different "backstory" and maybe those could change our fate.

This would also push keen to develop the game further, make it support a particular backstory.

They can ask "what systems do we need for player to enjoy a Bountyhunter run? What about a Miner run?"
