Unified grid makes large fuel conveyors pointless
One consequence of the unified grid system is that there's no reason to not use 0.5m conveyors for fuel lines in your ship, no matter how large your ship or the thruster is, this effectively makes it impossible to cut the fuel lines of an enemy ship, as they can have far more redundant fuel lines which are far smaller.
This adds to the general consequence of 1.5m conveyors becoming far less needed, and actually more of a constraint for small vessels than large. Any ammo that can be piped through a 0.5m conveyor will be, as of right now actually no comps need 1.5m conveyors (though presumably that is only temporary for VS2, and will be changes presumably in VS2.2 if not then VS3). The reason this affects smaller ships more than larger ships, is some blocks such as thrusters, tanks, etc. have a 1.5m port, on a small ship you don't have the space to spare to add a converter, thus you're stuck using the 1.5m conveyor (and usually placing everything else that uses a 1.5m port onto it, such as cargo containers), whereas on a large ship, a converter doesn't take up much space relatively speaking, thus will be mostly using 0.5m conveyors.
The end result will be that ammo lines, fuel lines, etc. will be far harder to cut on large ships, thus turning combat again into "who can completely cut the other vessel in half first" rather than trying to disable the ship (by say, cutting fuel lines so they can no longer move, and I know people will use both hydrogen and ion/atmo, which is a whole other issue, but can at least reduce their manoeuvrability).
I'm honestly not sure the exact solution, however I feel it's an issue that should at least be brought up, as I've not seen anyone else mention it even once.
I like this feedback
I think we just need to wait till they put a seperation on what conveyors can do. I like the idea of having small conveyors do most of the lifting, and I think Larger ones should only have limited uses such as large ammo and such.

There is a need for longer straight conveyors especially with the 0.5m conveyor. A 2.5m x 0.5 straight conveyor would be a good addition.

Huh... you know I don't think I've won or lost that many fights to conveyor-cutting. Sure, a few times someone's lost the ammo-feed to their last gun or the game's glitched out and decided that a dead-end conveyor under a wing-tip turret was somehow between the tanks and everything else on the ship, but assuming decent designs I've found most of the time the fight ends either by lucky cockpit shot, running out of fuel/ammo the regular way, or by catastrophic damage effectively resulting in total loss of function (if not total destruction).

I would imagine alot of what you're describing may not be the same once we get to the full game. In SE1 there are certain items that can only move through the larger conveyor types and can't fit through the small grid ones. Likewise I would imagine the same will be true at the end of the day for the smaller ports of the unified grid system. I can count on one hand how many times I know of for sure that I've either won or lost a fight due to hitting a fuel line or ammo line on a ship. If there are others where that's happened, neither myself or the other person(s) realized it. This is one area I would give a wait and see approach.
