Shut off Valve as a wall panel/LCD

Basically the game should have shut off valves for conveyors.

  • This allows you to shut down a conveyor line at a point.
  • If there is a fire after that point, you can stop the fire and repair the conveyor.

Instead of only having the valves on conveyors themselves requiring the player to have direct access to the conveyor.

  • You have a wall.
  • On the back of the wall is a conveyor port.
  • A conveyor can T-junction itself into the port.
  • On the front of the wall is an LCD.
  • From the LCD you can shut off the conveyor beyond point of that junction.
  • The LCD could also show live data and show if the conveyor is damaged.

Work around in the meantime is sorters. You can have a junction which splits into an inbound and outbound sorter which both allow all components to pass through. You can shut those on/off and even have a button near them to cycle them the way you describe.

Ah yeah exactly, this idea is good if anyone wants to do more realistic ship design. I can picture myself designing panels internally where I can shut off the conveyor system. And likewise, if they ever add a true fire mechanic where you need to shut the fuel to the fire off before repairing.
