Grid ownership/blocked actions
Resetting or taking over grid ownership was an incredibly useful and important part of gameplay for me in SE1 and the fact it doesn't have even a simple button in world settings drives me crazy and ruins the immersion of how I want to play. I love what we have so far except for this issue.
And no the current advice of blueprinting then pasting is not a solution, that defeats the whole point of securing unknown wreckage before venturing further in and engineering your way through or around problems. barring specific owned items such as safezones or things related to contracts.
Anything crashed or abandoned in the story should not be considered owned/unownable by the player, all this blocking of actions does is encourage players to entirely scrap anything they come across instead of repurposing or restoring/rebuilding the ships/stations/buildings they might find as they explore or to build supports onto the existing blocks to bridge potentially dangerous points and reward players for keeping blocks from getting destroyed or causing damage to the area or items around them if they simply fall off after you grind a single block to progress through wreckage (I'm looking at you crashed ship you explore after finishing the hydrogen craft)
I really hope this issue is solved sooner rather than later because I REALLY want to enjoy the game as it progresses through development and I'm hoping this kind of thing is a feedback patch item instead of having to wait months for another vertical slice update because all this does at the current time is encourage blind deconstruction and then spoiling the exploration by having to copy the build then grinding it down to rebuild it from the hologram so you know exactly where every block is because you already deconstructed then remade it or you wont be able to see where something was damaged because you're making entirely fresh blocks.
I like this feedback
Agreed, can't even use the flat surfaces to build a ship on. I am Borg right now, I assimilate everything.

I agree. Using wrecks and abandoned facilities to obtain valuable equipment or unique equipment (e.g., Prototech) should be an important part of the game. Or, to be able to confiscate and repair wrecks and abandoned facilities with impunity, using them for your own needs.
On the other hand, there should be an effective mechanism to prevent players from stealing or damaging the buildings of other players who are currently absent from the game world with impunity.

There are games where the following option is available:
you can come to another player's base and use their facilities (even if you don't know how to create them).
You can even use other people's storage objects as your own if the owner is not present in the game world. You have access to the inventory, but you cannot see the owner's items. However, you risk having your inventory locked when the owner of the object logs into the game. You won't lose your items (unless the object is destroyed or unless you leave the game world), but you'll have to wait until the owner leaves the game world. IMHO, it works like this: the game world maintains several inventory lists for each object - separately for each player.
