"Thrusting downwards" while in a gravitational field.

The flying is a big weird in this game but mainly is that when I fly to wards the planet instead of my ship having 1G of acceleration plus the thrusters in that direction it just has the thrusters. Which is very weird. It become faster to turn dampeners off and free fall instead of using your thrusters in combo with gravity to go down. Which I am getting is to make flying easier for new players but I hope we get a setting or something that lets us go back to having flying be like SE1.


Separate thing but I think it is related and I can't be bothered making another post. Is why does a ship have more thrust with dampeners on than off? I load a ship it can't fly up then I turn dampeners on and suddenly I can (all of this has been with the starter small ship.)

My guess is that with dampeners on Gravity's affects on the grid gets changed in some way creating these results.

Just generally the flight model is super strange. Just built myself a small drill ship. I have two lrg atmos each down, fore, and aft i have two sml atmos each left and right. if i tap up thrust (space) after the initial acceleration i continue to float upwards. And float is the right word. I have dampeners on but should get pulled toward verdure by gravity. if i tap down thrust (C) i see the corellating drop in power usage yet gravity still has no affect on my direction of travel. This combined with the refusal to make and stay contacted to the ground and the drag to steer input method are really starting to become a nuisance.

Maybe it is tied to the super reversers, in that you can slow down much faster than accelerate. It may be throwing the calculations off when dampeners are toggled back and forth in gravity when moving around?

What about a terminal velocity, for ships and players, in atmosphere? You, in a suit, don't accelerate to Mach 1 in freefall, you stop at about 50 m/s irl.

Yeah something is super buggy broken weird with the flight model right now, it's barely usable. Even with a mod to get rid of super dampeners it's STILL extremely weird. I think they broke something at a fundamental level in the code that needs fixing.
