Worried about Rovers being obsolete

In Space Engineers 1, rovers were essentially obsolete after quickly unlocking flight on any planet, especially with atmospheres. I feel that it would be cool if rovers had more unique uses and functions in Space Engineers 2 that couldn't be accomplished by flight, such as tank tracks or heavy armor that wouldn't be suitable for flight. Otherwise, perhaps large wheels to support large moving bases, or more power uphill than a thruster would provide for the same energy. It would also be beneficial if they could withstand extremely high-velocity impacts, allowing for proper landings without much issue.
