"New grid" block rotation doesn't work well

While testing survival I've come across some issues when rotating blocks for placing a new grid. First thing I noticed is when free rotating the new grid block the rotation is dependent on the angle of the camera. This makes it almost impossible to line something up with the ground or an asteroid. I think would be more easy to use if the rotation was bound to the world or to its local object rotation.

Secondly this may be a bug but when using gravity alignment its limited to 90 degree snap rotation unlike free rotations 360 degrees of freedom. Just to add a suggestion for the gravity aligned rotation it should only have horizontal rotation maybe with 90 degree flipping for the other 2 axis. I would make a video or two but i cant imagine any good way to visually represent the problem.
