The game won't start.

Need More Information

(Text translated using Google)

The game was installed via Steam. After a recent update, it stopped working altogether.

I updated the graphics card drivers, as well as the DirectX and C++ utilities. But that didn't help. I tried deleting and completely reinstalling the game, but that also didn't help.

My computer specifications:

Ryzen 5 5600

RTX3070

RAM 32Gb

The game is installed on nvme ssd.

I'll attach the log files to the request.

Thank you in advance.

Hello Данила Гребенец,

From the logs you have provided I can see that your GPU drivers are outdated with version being 56094 (r560_88) while the latest available drivers for you GPU are version 58180 (r581_66). Have your tried launching the Game with the latest drivers?

You can download the latest drivers from here: Download The Official NVIDIA Drivers | NVIDIA

Let me know if this helps.

Kind Regards,

Bartosz

The driver is currently installed on 32.0.15.8180 (29.10.2025). But the problem is still not solved.

Hello Данила Гребенец,

I see, lets try another thing. Sometimes after update, old setting files cause issues with the Game launch. The usual solution for this is to delete the contents of this folder (Please note that this will delete all of your saves and blueprints, as such I recommend making a backup of Blueprints and SaveGames folders):

C:\Users\(your_username)\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers2\AppData

After the AppData folder is empty, try to launch the Game again.

Let me know if this helps.

Kind Regards,

Bartosz

I have already performed this action before. It didn't bring any results.

According to your logs you don't have .NET 9 installed.

  • Try reinstalling .NET 9 Desktop runtime and .NET Framework 4.8.1 runtime found here:

https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers2/pc/topic/51041-game-fails-to-launch#comment-105840

  • Check that both Steam and SE2 exe files don't have any compatibility settings enabled in windows.
  • Do you happen to use GPU Tweak III from ASUS?

photo

I'm having the same issue, the mentioned se2version1_5 runs fine the current version however does not.

There are no logs created but looking in the event view shows an application crash

Hopefully this isnt a "you need to upgrade your pc" deal

Add logs so Keen have a chance to figure out the issue.

They are found here:

C:\Users\**USERNAME**\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers2\Temp\Logs\

As stated in my reply this is an application bootstrap issue and no logs are generated at the point of crash

It seems like you don't have .NET 9 installed. Keen support has links in this ticket:

  • Have you tried verifying the game files via Steam?
  • Someone else also had problems running the game from F: . Do you have room on C: ? Maybe try moving the game files there temporarily and try running

1. Yes several times.

2. I moved game to HDD on D it doesn't help

  1. Just to make sure, was it .NET 9 Desktop runtime and not just runtime you installed?
  2. Check that both Steam and SE2 exe files don't have any compatibility settings enabled in windows.
  3. Do you find any details about the crash in event viewer?
  4. Do you happen to use GPU Tweak III from ASUS?
  5. If you don't have any saves or blueprints you could try deleting the SE2 Appdata folder. If you have saves/blueprints you may want to copy them from the folder first.

Could you check which .NET Runtimes are installed.

WIN+R write

cmd

ENTER then write

dotnet --list-runtimes

ENTER

You can copy text from the terminal by selecting it and then right click with the mouse once.

That looks okay. I have no other suggestions than maybe try step 5 in my earlier comment. Keen Bartosz said it could fix problems in some situations. Here is the link to the comment:

Have you checked if more log files have been created in the log folder?

Upload them here in that case. Then let's hope that Keen support will find this discussion next week.
