Crashed AMD RX6700XT

MrLening shared this bug 2 months ago
Need More Information

I have an AMD RX 6700XT, a 12-core Ryzen 3900X processor, 32 GB of RAM. The game works great if you play with add-ons, but after assembling the ship, the task is to fly to the station. I arrive, and my graphics card turns off... Not because of the temperature or anything else, I checked everything through amd overlay. 3 attempts and 3 exits from the game... I apologize for the grammar, poor knowledge of English.

By the way, I turned on the graphics card through the device manager and rebooted the PC. Naturally, I can't attach a log, and I can't record the process of turning off the video card either, my display goes out.

Hello MrLening,

Does this crash occur when you are at the Vallation Station or in some distance from the Station?

Same as @MrLening. Have you tried turning the graphics down from High to Medium (raytracing off is the important here). My driver crashes every time here with RAYs ON but also gets very laggy on Medium settings for some reason. i had crashes even earlier when Raytracing was on so for now I had to resort to Medium settings

Running very similar setup 6800XT + 3600X + 32gigs

Hello MrLening,

Thank you for specifying where does the Crash occur for you. Could you please attach your Game logs?

You can find them here:

Same set up 6700xt when it crashes it is literally disabling the drivers in windows, not just turning off the card, its gone as far as having to reinstall drivers to bring card back online. it will randomly crash this way in game usually pretty early in. not at any single point, have tried all the lower settings, raytracing on off FSR on off makes no difference

Here is a similar error when running long sessions on average graphics settings

With my 6700 XT my displays turn off and my drivers stop working as soon as I load the survival world after 5-10 seconds. I have to wipe/reinstall drivers each time. Here are my logs as well, please let me know if these are the logs you need.

same here, even on linux, 6700 xt and have had these GPU crashes since launch (gpu resets, fails the reset and I have to ssh to reboot, sound continues but I don't think input does)...

BUT: just had my first ~2h session without a crash though! disabled anti-aliasing and raytracing completely (not sure if RT actually causes crashes cos I've had it on/off and it mostly affects performance but didn't think it was necessarily related, but will check some more settings now that I have some stable settings and report back)

earlier builds also didn't log anything useful but I noticed some that seemed relevant now so attaching logs from the crashes as well! (i.e. `The application froze with freeze type RenderThreadFreeze`)

if it helps, the game logs the renderfreeze a couple of seconds before the GPU reset happens (i.e. 2025-12-05 12:20:46.111 vs 12:20:50 in system logs)

Hi,

I run an AMD 7800XT (16GB), an 5600X and 32GB RAM. My game also crashes if I set everything to the max, including Ray-Tracing. If I disable Ray-Tracing it works fine.

-> I'm just here to help with data: I've attached the multiple logs of some crashes, a ProcessFailureDump.dmp (C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Temp\SpaceEngineers2) and an AMD-Driver-Bug-Report).

I hope this helps!

Same problem as well with crashing during the beginner tutorial sections when flying to the first station or trying to mine for additional resources to fix the conveyor. AMD 7800XT and 7700X.

Logs are attached for two different days. I believe one set is from before the hotfix. That crash seemed to be resolved from the HF.

Thank you!

set game to quality, not performance . it solve my crash on my 6800xt

i have a Radeon 7600 Xt 16gb and one of the issues ive been having is my AMD software keeps tuning my gpu outside it's limits and makes the card have a crap fit.

I had to reduce the max clock speed to 2400 to get my game to run just on low lettings at moment

i have a amd ryzen 7 8 core (16 thread) 4.4ghz

64gb ram ddr4

and this turd of a gpu 7600 XT (alot of reddit threads online about the clock speed issue.

Richard, I did the same thing and so far, the issue has not returned. Thanks!

Update, the game has been crashing every time I approach the Mission board in the space station (Was able to approach it to get the first mission and to turn that mission in, but now I can't get to it to turn a second mission in that I completed). I cant get anywhere near it without it crashing to desktop. The logs I provided were from a Mission board crash. (Attached are the logs from 2 session that both crashed at the mission board)

I'm getting this all over Verdure with my RX 7800 XT. I'm not sure if it's unknown signals or just certain places of the planet that just crash if you get near them.

Oh no yeah it's definitely unknown signals. Huh. Good to know.

27 days and no DEV response. Looks like they don't care at all about reporting bugs.

Hello Engineers,

We are still looking for the reason of these AMD drivers crashes.

For now please try a workaround that Richard suggested - Setting the graphics to Quality instead of Performance.827720930ad08369ab57a1086a3d6637

Let us know if this helps.

if it helps with debugging at all, on linux I've had the same issue and managed to work around it by setting `RADV_DEBUG=syncshaders`, but have managed to run without workarounds or issues since Hotfix 2.0.2.47 (I think? it was one that mentioned amd bugfixes for sure)

Haven't played a lot lately and wanted to confirm before jumping to conclusions but I had 10+ hours for sure without any crashes and maxing settings/raytracing didn't make a difference either :)

some logs from before in this comment

Looks like this helped my Crashing for now. Hopefully you will find a solution will be found soon :D Thanks to Richard for the suggestion!
