Symmetry error when placing block on symmetry plane

Bryan shared this bug 21 days ago
Not a Bug

When building a block on the symmetry plane, it gives an error that some blocks

could not have been build.

Likely it is trying to build two blocks in place.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Enter symmetry mode

2. Select a plane

3. Place a block on the plane

Hello Bryan,

This is intended behavior. This error will indeed appear when the mirrored side already contains blocks in place where you want to place other blocks. It will also appear when placing blocks on the plane where the Symmetry was attached to.

As such I will close this thread.

Hello Bartosz,

Thank you for your swift reply.

Just to be sure, because I think you are misunderstanding:

I am not describing the error due to two blocks being placed on the sides, and on one of the two blocks there already is another.

This for sure is intended behavior I get this.

What I am saying, is the when you place the block exactly on the plane - meaning it should always place one single block in every case - it gives the error.

There is no single case where this error will not occur, it is seemingly trying to insert the same block on the exact same location causing the error.

Hello Bryan,

I agree it might be confusing, however it is intended behavior. When placing blocks exactly on the Symmetry plane, the projection will show two blocks (best visible when the block is rotated) as seen in this image:

In other words, Symmetry mode will try to mirror everything on the other side of the plane, even if placed exactly on the plane itself.

I would suggest you to post this as a feature request in our Feedback section.
