Wind direction in atmosphere and current direction in water

A vector force acting upon characters, grids and particle effects.
With a big enough sail in space solar wind could be a thing too.
Could even make fans more interesting.
Would require a subspace keel to tack against solar wind forces.

You could not sail with solar wind if nothing blocks movement in direction of solar wind, as it does water at a sail-ship.
But still wind (direction and strength without any Air-volumes calculated) would be interesting, if placing of wind turbines would be important and day of time etc. could make more or less effect.

The word "wind" in the description of the phenomenon "solar/stellar wind" is very misleading. It leads to very wrong conclusions...
The use of a "solar sail" in the game - this would be an interesting possibility, but one must remember that the pressure of the solar wind is very small, so the force generated by the solar wind is also very small. A boat powered by a solar sail will accelerate only very slowly - and therefore for a very long time. And this very long is true in the real world - in a game world it would be infinitely long.
And you can't amplify the solar wind - otherwise it will blow away the planets atmosphere...
The wind turbines, as they are depicted in the game, are very well designed - their function does not depend on the wind direction.
It would be interesting if air and wind behaved similarly to liquid - so that structures could be built to direct the flow of air. For example, a narrowing channel in which the velocity of the flow is increased...
But I think such simulations are too difficult - they involve too large sections of the game environment, and have to run continuously, regardless of the player's presence in that section of the game environment (i.e. sort of "in the background")
