Mega Hulk(s)

Ancient wreck(s) of massive size that offer a maze of navigable spaces and hidden resources.

Structures that are so old and altered by time that their makeup is closer to stone than metal.

Much larger than an asteroid, but smaller than a moon, the wreck would offer an experience of surprise and danger, and may not be entirely abandoned.

A hulk would be a permanent addition to the solar system, if you can find it in the void.

Needs a clever algorithm to create all the voids, deposits, and biome details.

A cool idea, but I'd be concerned with a server having to handle a grid this large (or a voxel-construct this complex)... It might be prudent to also ask for some manner of massive extra-large blocks that something like this would be made of in order to keep the load on the server down.

My guess would be to start with a matrix of voids. Then use a map to decide how the voids are linked or opened up to form larger voids. Some of the links would open ways into the hulk. It need not be much more work than a planet, but considering that it would be much smaller, I am not sure that it would be too burdensome for processing. It would be voxel based and probably would require new textures. Making the map would not be too challenging as there are many maze algorithms that can be tweaked to give a range of closed to open maze forms.

They had been talking before about adding caves on planets, I believe, and it's similar in complexity. Could maybe be something that is decided upon world creation (as a setting) to turn on/off. Sounds cool either way though.
