Suggestion: Scientific names of ore and crusher.

In nature, ore is not found in pure form, it is found in the form of a mineral, for example Hematite, where there is Iron and various impurities. Garnierite (nickel). Quartz (silicon). Cobaltite (cobalt). Magnesite (magnesium). Calaverite (gold). Sperrylite (platinum). Malachite (copper). Kernite (uranium). Argentite (silver). Bauxite (aluminum).

Initially, the game has a mineral rock, for example with such names. The player extracts this mineral rock, but does not carry it to the Refiner, but first carries it to the Crusher. The Crusher is a machine that has sharp mechanisms inside like a drill, it crushes the mineral. At the exit, it gives out ores. Each mineral has its own ratio of ores, so several ores can be obtained from one mineral rock at once. Then the player can transfer the obtained ore manually or via a conveyor to the Refiner.

Yes, it is more complicated than now. But it is more realistic and here you need not only Engineering skills in the game, but also an understanding of Geology. Thank you!

Or we could skip this and stick with what we have now and assume the refinery does both, or the crushing is done by the drills on mining the material. Even if we want to say it's realistic, gameplay wise it serves no value. It does little more than artificially slow people down in the refining process for what reason exactly? This also strikes me as a way to reduce the amount of actual materials people get and are able to refine. This is a pass for me because I see no value here gameplay wise. I see nothing but something that artificially slows people down with no benefits at all. Games do not need to be hyper-realistic to be fun and this is one instance where I absolutely have no problems forgoing realism for gameplay reasons. As much as I hate saying it, this is one time where something is best left to a mod.

Really cool idea.

Adding a crusher is too much complexity but adding different minerals for the same ore would be really cool, it would add some diversity to the game. For example in one asteroid you could find hematite but in the next magnetite, they don't stack but otherwise behave the exact same.

Well, by the way, as an option. In most mineral rocks, and maybe even in all, the player will be able to find all types of ores to one degree or another, proportion. He takes and throws them into the Refiner and at the output gets ores, i.e. in fact, for the average player nothing changes because he will still get the ores he needs at the output. But for hardcore players, this will be a way to know the mineral rocks to quickly extract the ores they need.

It seems I can't reply to a reply so I'll reply to my own comment: I feel like stuff like that is best to be left up to mods, though the devs could absolutely lay the groundwork for it by adding the different minerals to the game and letting mods override the items for them. The game should make it clear what metal the mineral will produce and again, allowing mods to remove that bit of information for the hardcore players!
