What form would this block glue take? I'm assuming that's what you mean by "merge grid function"? If so we've needed ways to manipulate stuff better for awhile. Whether it takes the form of a tractor beam, telekinesis, or just straight up magic doesn't matter to me so long as we have those options.

I think Keen, Digi and mz have already done most of the work on this. I would like to see something that determines intended orientation between the reference faces being joined, and may be two part tool system that could be locked onto each of the grids that would orientate and pull the two grids together by an energy beam/field (SE magic tech). The tool could be limited in Newton force and range to prevent too much abuse, but it would be many times stronger than Grabby hands.
