[IDEA] Interior Blocks & Design Immersion

Over the past few months since the release of SE2 in Alpha some spectacular builds have emerged. The new 25cm grid system allows for block placement in a way that expands the possibilities of grid design. The graphics look beautiful and as stated in KEEN streams every screen capture is a like a movie scene. One thing I have noticed is that with this system engineers are able to create a wider variety of habitable spaces for the player to experience.

To encourage this creativity and stylistic expansion, please consider the following.

  • The ambiance of a Ship, Station, Rover or Base says a lot about the engineer and what vibe they enjoy.
  • When this form factor is met it leads to more time spent enjoying the game and deeper immersion.
  • Based on the new capabilities of the grid system and how already players are learning new and interesting ways to build with it.

Keen, let us remember to include block types that are modular enough to enhance this potential for integration without being redundant, but also with enough features for each to be unique and hopefully multifunctional when appropriate.

Therefore, with DEV encouragement in mind, the following scenes are added to brainstorm what type of blocks types and aesthetic may be needed to accomplish these effects and how best to implement them in a meaningful way.

Be creative and know we are thankful for all the hard work and transparency so far!

It looks like Keen is on the ball, have you seen CEO Blog, 27MAR?

Definitely a good start, there is a lot we can build from scratch but it would also be nice to have a variety of architectural panels to use for greebling and if combined with other aspects like control panels, LCD's, vents, windows, doors, and conveyors it could integrate really nice.

Just like the half wall blocks, this type of interior wall can be broken into sections for Half wall variety. 7b7bc73ade43b1bc37d694cbd089f91f1f68c5a870bed4235641cd6a146c6d1c
