Corrosive ammunition

I can think of a couple of players that might hate on this.

A shell type with corrosive chemical like effect.

Will erode blocks slowly for a limited time or until neutralised.

Empty shells may be manufactured in an assembler.

Chemicals are made in a chemical processor.

A munition packing machine is required to add the chemical to the shell.

Storage of shells may present a danger and require a unique munition container.

A neutralising counter measure should be available, but have its own drawbacks.

if something like this does exist, it'd probably be better to have a general "acid" fluid type on alien planets as a hazard, and let people weaponize it themselves via glass tank munitions

This would have to be a limited time debuff otherwise it objectively becomes the best type of ammo in the game to use. Because all someone would need to do is tag grids/blocks with the acid and then they're screwed if they don't have the neutralization agent at all. Making it a temporary debuff allows for its effect but without making it automatically the best. I would also say as a further balancing agent, the initial kinetic damage of the weapon would need to be slightly lower to account for the acid effect. Not sure an ammo type like this is needed overall, but could be interesting.

Infinite corrosion would just become the weapon of trolls, best leave it with a fixed amount of time.

As for the concept in general... acids/corrosives tend to work extremely slowly, don't cause nearly as much damage for their volume as people seem to think, and weapons based on them tend to be more hazardous to the user than the target, so they wouldn't feel quite right in the SE setting... If you want a damage over time projectile then it may be better to ask for something like incendiary rounds, they'd make more sense for the vanilla SE universe and modders could subsequently use the code to make DoT projectiles in any flavor you could think of.

Not a bad idea, however this might be quite taxing on the game having to constantly calculate possibly many blocks that are essentially slowing being grinded down.
