30degree wedge blocks to change grid orientaion

Grids could have sections that could have a change in orientation via an angled wedge block to reduce the need for hinged angled sub grids in ship designs.

The wedges could come in a number of sizes and one with a walkable corridor.

A 30degree grid change would be a good start.

A 3-4-5 right angle triangle with a 36.87degree angle might be a better option.

An adaptor like this has to be easier than using hinges for build shapes. Unified grid makes this a possibility.

If this would remove the need for Hinge and Rotor sub-gridding to achieve angled structures, I would be all in.

  • If it makes it all one solid grid, that would totally help reduce Klang!
  • Maybe having a few different angles would be helpful (15, 30, 45, and 60 degree blocks) IDK what would be best but this is a start!

Almost like Special LEGO bricks

  • Currently we have to make angles like this

  • But imagine if we could use blocks like this:

You got it!

I initially thought that the usual angles would be OK, but looking at the unified grid I could see that it would be better to choose right angled triangles with integer sides so that extending and repeating the wedge would be functionally possible giving greater connection to the angle change and keep the grids compatible.

I wonder if SE2 could support that.

Hopefully there nothing in the grid structure that would prohibit this type of block.

Yeah having some way to make the angles of normally sub-gridded plates and structures one solid Grid. That would greatly reduce the Wrath of Klang!

The downside of not using standard angles would be in the construction of circular bodies.

If both types were available, then would it be too much or 10x possible, who knows.

I am not sure if the constructed grid would be one grid with bends and branches or main grid plus fixed, no physics conflict sub-grids.

Hail KClangg...gg...voosh...gone.
