Need grid clean up or Delete all in specified area

I used the the block remove RMB with drag and SHIFT and ended up leaving a whole load of independent block on a layer above the deleted layer.
I had to remove each of these blocks manually as the remove RMB does not stretch across gaps. There were over a hundred grid blocks to remove manually.
I could solve this in SE1 with Admin tools quickly.
Changing the remove tools to stretch across independent grids would be another option or delete all in an XYZ box area.
