More building freedom with diagonal blocks

It is really diapointing that SE2 is currently not able to handle proper building with angled blocks. I expected more in that regard from the unified grid system which promised that you could build in the gaps of larger blocks if space is available. I think this is a problem that must be addressed and fixed early.
I have attached screeshots of the problem.
Yeah, what's up with that? I thought all volumes that were not already filled where buildable space? This will need to include not just square spaces but diagonal ones as well. Is the current system still based on if any part of the square space is occupied, or is it based off of hitbox?

The existing set of diagonal windows are clearly styled to "seal" edge to edge, just as the orthogonal edges do, but it's impossible to but those edges to anything because of their offset hitboxes.
Agreed that this needs to be fixed early.

This is a great early catch. Hopefully its addressed soon!

yes please. And I know in some cases (2 deco block slopes) they would technically occupy the same grid position, but please find a way to make this possible. this would open so much more possibilities. I would even suggest allowing slight overlap of smaller blocks with larger blocks, to make structures that looks seamless and actually connected.

I would like to see diagonal doors. It opens up a significant portion of interior design and architecture by simply having a diagonal door. There are a lot of ship designs I've never been happy with because of the cardinal only door directions.
