Micro hinges, rotors and pistons

Under Consideration

With the advent of the UGS (Unified Grid System) we have far greater freedom for creativity available to us.

What I would most like to see is hinges, rotors and pistons in the smallest sizes. Obviously they would be too small to transfer anything beyond perhaps gasses, but they would allow us to make custom doors, hatches, access ways, hidden compartments etc.

The current small grid blocks are good but still too large to be practical in most situations, they are too evident for the scale.

I'm sure something of this sort will come in time - but have my vote anyway because it's important to have mechanics in a game about engineering

This would also solve one of my bigges problems in SE1: The ugly huge landing legs. Almost every aircraft can retract their landing gear but building this in SE1 was just way too huge for most of my ships. With small hinges and rotors, I could fit them to smaller ships so I finally can have more fancy bottom sides.

Well, it can be that we get retractable landing gears in vanilla later and the actual ones are more a place holder or the more simple ones.

But absolutely yes, I want retractable landing gears as well and if we even could design them by ourselves, that would be even more nice.

The only problem I would have is inconsistent axis of rotation, essentially with these micro joints I wouldnt want the axis around which they rotate to be 12.5cm offsets from the grid (ie inside a 25cm block) as it wouldnt scale well with larger joint sizes

Can we have various length and diameter pistons?
