PVE Challenge League mode
Not Enough Votes
A set of single player scenario challenges that would become progressively more difficult. The challenges would be both fun, a test of skills and provide Keen with data on how far players have progressed with SE2 systems. A monthly league table could be published with achievements to encourage players to their beat personal bests.
Challenge examples :
Deliver most amount of ore in 3 hours to the moon.
Construct a ship printer and with the printer build a ship from a designated blueprint.
Move Several items from one area to another with a static grid.
Recover a sunken vessel with restrictions.
Navigate a dense asteroid field at high speed.
and so on.
For multiplayer - The SE Grand Games.
While you could do those as scenarios, I think it would possibly be more awesome to have these sorts of challenges randomly spawn; you could cast most of those examples as economy missions.
There are already resource acquisition, delivery, and find (but not recover) missions in the base game.
I'd argue that the asteroid field navigation wants to be a PvP scenario; see who can use a stock fighter to get the best time or build a better fighter to get an even better time. Solo, or as a PvP race.

My primary thoughts were on comments in one of the SE2 livestreams by Marek and Xoc on making SE2 more accessible. The expectation, I imagine, is to gauge success through feedback from comments here on the support page and on discord. This is good, but subjective, whereas if engineers were take a variety of trials, testing various aspects of SE. This would allow a judgement of the ease to which tasks were completed. On its own the trials could be boring, but by adding a competitive element they would have more appeal. Each of the trials should be separate, contained and controlled to focus on the game element being tested, and still allowing a small amount of freedom to innovate around a problem. This is not testing the function of the game, but testing relationship between the player and the game.
I do not see this to be necessary in the longer term, unless gameplay changes.
