Better Creative/Survival Switching (In-Game)

Something I'd love to see improved is the seamlessness between creative and survival mode. In some games like Minecraft, the world behaves exactly the same regardless of whether the player is in Survival mode or Creative mode. In Space Engineers, the world behaves very differently between these modes.

It'd be nice if these could be split into a couple things:


  • Enable cheat mode - This would allow the player to change their game mode between survival and creative in-game. In creative mode, their energy and other requirements would not deplete and building doesn't require or consume resources. For dedicated servers this enables all players to change their game mode and cheat commands should always be accessible to administrators regardless of this option.
  • Enable infinite resources - This would be similar to enabling creative mode in SE1 where reactors don't require fuel, batteries don't require a power source et cetera. This option should require Cheat Mode to be enabled. When enabled, the player spawns in Creative Mode.

In the above proposal, enabling cheat mode simply allows the user to quickly and easily toggle Creative Mode while in-game without effecting the rest of the world. All machinery and ships would still require their resources to operate. It's only when infinite resources is enabled in the world options that machinery will have infinite fuel.

Related: Creative Mode should have a better interface for item spawning. A tab in the inventory UI should allow the player to access a list of all items in the game and simply drag them over to their inventory.

Addendum:

Sometimes you still want the engineering challenges that survival mode gives you when your reactors require fuel, and your batteries need a method to recharge, but you want the freedom and flexibility that creative mode gives you.

Having a simple and easily accessible way to have creative mode tools for just the player character leaving the rest of the world in a survival-like state would be cool. Could even help teach some players about game mechanics without dropping them into survival mode.

Admins in SE1 worlds can already turn on creative tools on survival worlds to have that balance, I can't see them not keeping this into SE2 when survival is added in the later slice.

To be fair, that's hidden behind a menu that can only be accessed by a certain combination of key inputs. Not every player will even know of this menu's existence. I don't believe the game ever tells the player of this either.

There aren't chat commands in the current game to enable creative tools, are there?
