[IDEA] Multiplayer, Server Owners, Custom Corporations

In SE1 is well known the idea of factions, creating alliances through peace treaties and works perfectly, what I'm proposing is the concept of corporations that could be created as a server owner so when factions were created they could pledge allience to one of these corporations so server owners could create a deeper expierence and a richer lore.

For example a pirate corporation could have several pirate factions and maybe you could introduce taxes, having no taxes in the pirate corporation but you could have a terran corporation with some taxes but with some benefit.

You mean something like the factors and/or alliances supported by some of the nexus plugins? A faction of factions, in this case created by the server administrator, but the nexus plugin supports player-created alliances as well.

Yes, you got it. It might be configurable by the server owner if its open to all or if it's restricted. But the idea creates the possibility to create a more immersive playthrough

first question: how many players can be on one server?

Logic question: a pirate faction runs its own server (I assume run at the players' own expense...). Is there for a normal player an logical reason to play on such a server?

The idea is not that each faction has their own server, it's instead that each faction could be under the 'umbrella' of a larger faction, such as Pirates, Merchants, Mercenaries, etc.

Ex: 'Jim's Warband' would be a Mercenary faction, but still their own faction and able to interact with other Mercenary factions, but also has the lore and other interactions determined by the parent faction. All mercs could be hostile to pirates, and ambivalent towards merchants (sub-factions choose), but all sub-factions have access to the main mercenary base, etc.

As Martin said, it's somewhat similar to the player alliances with the Nexus plugin. I imagine it could be more like Stellaris (in a theoretical way) where each faction joins up into a Federation, which in this case is a larger faction split between them.

Then again first question: how many players can be on one server? In one game world?

I'd say as many as the game can handle, the idea I'm giving is about creating smaller communities as normally happen to be in an allignment to a greater house/faction/alliance so they can collaborate or create a more immersive environment
