Relative level detection - block to grid

In SE1s HUD we have a horizon indicator to show relative alignment to planetary gravity.

I would like a block that would have a similar function, but has a short range, detects relative alignment to a grid surface and does not require a gravity field. The resultant detection being displayed on an LCD or on the HUD.

This could be displayed as a cube within a wireframe cube and axis lines to display the relative alignment

If the essence of this is already planned for SE2 with auto-docking could this block be added to SE1.
