Additional rock form type to prevent drilling, could be overcome with end game tech.

Thinking about this a little more, should different rock types have different levels of resistance to mining?

Irrelevant.

In fact, apart from meteoric iron, there is no natural material, type of rock, that significantly resists mining mechanisms.

All rocks have more or less the same hardness and toughness compared to metals.

Tell that to Mojang!

The idea is interesting. I want the game to have more variety, but you need to try not to overcomplicate it.

So you're suggesting the dumbest idea possible? :( Why??

Yes it is dumb, but we escape the real world for a little fantasy.

I will concede to having very difficult to mine from unmineable.

I wanted a way to put players off from mining into an enemy base.

Undermining enemy fortifications is one of the oldest tasks for true engineers ;)

To the problem - reinforced concrete wall, undermines with mines and detectors... Just like in the Middle Ages...

And you can't help it... A space engineer will do exactly what a medieval engineer did - dig a hole and when he hits an "insurmountable obstacle" he builds a massive charge - and detonates it.

From experience, the best way to stop people from mining in to a base is to mine it out yourself first. Excavating large cavities under and around your base and putting turrets in them makes it significantly more difficult for your average under-mining grinder-monkey to get in that way.

Tael - this is actually building "counter-undermines" at a higher level. The medieval engineer applauds.
