Would be cool to have smaller/square doors that you can put into the floor walls that acts as a small access way flush with the surface so you can still walk over it.

Would this be a difficult to notice trap door that could suddenly open under you with a super strong localised gravity generator that would pull you into small grinding pit?

I'd suspect that they're thinking more an access hatch you can pair with a ladder so you aren't falling down the ladder-shaft all the time, but hidden trap-doors would be fun on occasion.
