Make Cryo make sense after arrival at Almagest - combined medical pod and sleep capsule

The long time sleep function makes sense for a thousands of years journey to the Almagest system. But after arrival, that is no longer needed. The function of the cryo pod in SE1 to preserve your inventory seems a bit contrived.

But if the pods can double as a medical treatment capsule, it makes sense to keep them around. It would also fit the concept of "med pods" that is common in science fiction.

I don't know.

In multiplayer, cryo pods are still useful as a safe spot to log off without dying and to keep your inventory intact. But if the pod gets destroyed, the player dies and respawns the next time they log in.

In singleplayer, though, it’s a different story—there’s really no benefit aside from being able to AFK without dying.

Maybe if the pod could also work as a medical unit, it could heal you, but at a slower rate compared to a dedicated medical station or something like that.

I've seen it suggested that cryo-pods be made the respawn location in place of survival-kits/med bays, making respawning more of an "awakening a clone with downloaded memories" scenario than the current unexplained "The old you cartoonishly pops out of the first-aid kit". Given that cryo-pods/beds are a bad idea if pvp and bounty-contracts are things on the server you're on, it would be a reason to keep them around.
