Speed limiter for ships

I have seen a lot of people request it for SE1 over the years, so only makes sense to build it into SE2.

Add a Speed Limiter option to ship grids. We have it for wheels. It would be nice to be able to set a max speed for grids under thruster power too.

I could see this being useful for mining where you can toggle your speed limiter on and off when mining so that you can just travel forward at the perfect speed in which your drills can keep up.

Current work around is to either just fly with dampeners off and just accelerate to your speed or if in atmosphere, you can create a group for your reverse thrusters and add a toggle to your toolbar to power them on an off so that you can coast forward while keeping your dampeners on.

If you played star citizen they have it so you use the mouse wheel to set your max speed and it can be adjusted anytime you need it too. I would like to see something like that for ships and land vehicles.

I'm afraid you're comparing incomparables - SE is a voxel system that allows you to warp and change terrain, and ships are pieced together from blocks that have "physical" interaction with each other.

Therefore the speed of the ships is limited, the computer must calculate the interaction of the blocks and their positions at a speed sufficient to track the motion of the structure. With faster movement, the structure could break apart or collapse due to the position of the blocks changing more than the limit of the interaction distance or the joint between the blocks.
