A Better Survival Experience
Not Enough Votes
I had extremely positive experiences in SP1 when preparing for a dangerous journey — whether to another planet or on a mining mission in space. I believe this experience can be improved by expanding the survival aspect in SP2. Be it through food, hostile environments, or something as simple as sleep.
I think every journey in SP2 can become meaningful and exciting. But for that, the game needs immersion — interesting planetary surfaces, cave systems, enemies, and a truly immersive sense of emptiness in space.

Even something as simple as a functioning AI for enemies or neutral NPCs would be massive for the general user experience. SE1 has the most hours played of any game I have ever touched and if I was going to point out an Achilles' heel, it would be that there really is no life in the universe to actually interact with. The universe has planets and resources but feels utterly and completely dead. Sure, there are dogs, spiders, and pirates but they are just lifeless shells running around. The neutral trader factions in SE1 could be greatly improved as well.
In spite of this critique, I am looking forward to SE2's full release. The alpha looks gorgeous and I hope it blows our expectations out of the water as the game makes through development.

Yes, you're right – it does feel dead, especially the planets. I do think, though, that there should definitely be places that feel lonely, empty, and lifeless – like space, for example. It's important to preserve that feeling and immersion. But planets with water should have believable signs of life.
