[IDEA] New Light Truss & Heavy Beam blocks
Not Enough Votes
Proposal: New Block characteristics for Truss and Beam.
Truss Blocks would be light armor types, i-Beam blocks would be heavy armor types.
TRUSS BLOCKS:
Welded circular pipe in an A-Beam truss structure for light builds, 25cm & 2.5m
- Windmills,
- Greenhouses,
- Basic scaffolding support.
- Many angles, but also ability to make long arches.
- Special Multi angle blocks to make Geodesic domes
I-BEAM BLOCK :
For heavy support applications and structural frame rigidity, 2.5m & 5m
- Trade the old industrial A-frame style to a Modern look with circular Holes in the I-Beam for reduced weight. Better aesthetic continuity.
- Columnar/pole shaped block ends as an option for tie-ins and terminating supports.
- Large scale structural builds
- Naval and Sub-nautical framing for strength.
Sub Category Composite Rigid I-BEAM BLOCKS 25cm
- Same type of models can be used for this but Scaled down to 25cm.
- To be used to Support structures and walls for rigid but lightweight alloys for Airframes and starships.

Global Truss also make tower lifters! 3-point truss can be a little awkward as it has left and right handed junctions. 4-point and 2 point are fine. Layher beams are good for scaffold bridges and temporary roofing.
I have been working on aero frame bracing in blender, but have had trouble with beam profile bends and ellipse cut outs.
With the I-beam girders, there needs to be a couple more variations on the ones in SE1 for creating better diagonals. I thought the edge thickness of the beams in SE1 was a too much, but only by a fraction. I would also like to have an additional deeper I-beam/girder 2 blocks high x 1 wide.

Yeah, 2-Point or 4-point is just fine, 3-point is an extravagant wish but if done well with the right number of blocks would look exceptional. Transitions and variations for all blocks need to be well thought out to show better continuity in the build. AeroFrame bracing would really open up ship space especially when combined with a well balanced plate system.

I do like the SE1 Truss style though, It just needs more variations.
