I am a great fan of DEP Armor Block Collection mod for SE1.

I think SE2 will need more block variants and not less than SE1.

But a alpha needs less for lesser work if they need to overwork stuff on blocks. If they put 100 blocks in and need to change something that affect all blocks on not shared data they need to change stuff at 100 blocks manually. That's why alphas always have reduced content, especially when they are still working hard on the game engine itself.

More content only slows down development a lot and rises also the risk they put stuff too early into the game where later in development they wouldn't add it anymore because they found a better solution but can't change it anymore without risking to make the players mad by removing content they are got used to.


There is already at least one block in the game that shouldn't exists in its form and as I posted about it the first reactions was already "No! I already used it a lot! Add another block!" (what is no fix of the main problem, only the typical cheapest solution so nobody cries).

So, we will get more blocks for sure when the developer think it is the right time.

I think that you may be over thinking this,sure SE2 is in alpha.This forum is a means to express insights and wishes, no one is saying I want this now. I am looking forward to the next phase of testing. Somewhere along the line, greater block variety will need to be tested too. Stress testing is a thing. There are methods for batch processing, batch refactoring, some things still have to done by hand, some things can be reprocessed by AI, if AI can not push around a bunch of low poly models I would be surprised. Workflows have improved since the beginning of SE1. Human verification and play testing are still very valid, and we are fortunate to be able to assist. We can be frustrated by changes, but as you said this is alpha, and change is part of the process.

Yeah, but if such a suggestions comes with the knowledge that SE1 has such blocks already in the first 3 weeks after SE2 EA release, then it sounds a bit you want sooner than later. So my comment was only: they will come when Keen think the right time came for it. And pushing pressure onto the developers to bring them sooner, highers the risk they ruin something on there development way with it. If they are there, you can't change them anymore without mad players.

They're asking more or less for exactly what you want, Can't say when more will get here of course, but good to ask to help Keen know how to set their priorities.
