The ability to shard/cluster a dedicated server.

It would be nifty to be able to shard/cluster a dedicated server, i.e. split the world between multiple servers, with a somewhat seamless transition between servers, bonus points if you can do a rolling restart of the cluster, or move parts of the simulation between servers (e.g. a big battle getting moved to occupy an entire server). Even more points if you can run a single 'server' that spans the RL world, so that instead of having n servers, each with a distinct world in each country, the in-game world spans the RL world.

We have something similar for SE1 via a Torch plugin called Nexus. It can make a set of SE1 servers all host parts of a shared world, specifically each server hosting a defined (possibly non-contiguous) volume of space.
