Make the safe speed player adjustable
Under Consideration
The idea of having a safe speed below which damage does not occur is an excellent idea and will save many a new player, and others who don't care for the dangers of docking, a lot of frustration.
However, some of us enjoy the challenge of docking large hard to maneuvering grids.
Yo allow for both would it be possible to make this setting adjustable during world generation? Say set at 20 default but able to be reduced all the way down to 0.5 m/s or even turned off?
I think this would satisfy the broader needs of different players groups.

How about tying this to grid mass as well.

Too small speed for damage carries a risk - large ships can easily reach high spatial speeds at their ends even when turning and manoeuvring slowly.

I am not a fan of the safe speed. Safe zones are already doing that.

100%
I like the idea. It makes Walkers a thing so their feet don't wear out, but feels like easy mode with my docking procedures. I would be okay if it went to a max of 10m/s but I like the slider idea so a given game can set their collision speed.

I like this just because I think 20 m/s is too high a safe speed you can really ram into stuff and not make a dent

Good idea, first I'm always for options, second I think 20m/s is really already way too fast, even for beginners 10m/s should be enough. I would lower it for myself to 2-3m/s. But sure, give the players/hosters/server owners an option to switch it between 0-20m/s. Because it has a direct impact on difficulty.
On the other side, for creative only I think a higher safety is fine, but in survival I definitely don't want 20m/s, way too high for me. It took a lot of thrill away from you and survival is all about the thrill to survive.

More options are always great and this should 100% be one. Just like the max speed... :-P

I would love if you could change this in world options once that is implemented, should probably be at the very least somewhere in the "advanced" section
