SE2 do not let me enable Ray tracing when I use Proton. How can I force it to enable it anyway
Not Enough Votes
I have a PC with a RTX3070 dual-booted windows and linux. When I play SE2 on windows I can max it with RTX. But when I play SE2 on linux with the proton compatibility layer the game do not detect my card and do not let me enable Ray tracing. How can I bypass this lock and force the game to enable the raytracing anyway?
Thank you for your work. I love the game and I realy want to help to bring it on all platform. Like, no joke, SE2 Alpha run better on linux than ANY other games I own. This is realy impressive.
Intel i9-9900k

Installed on 2TB M.2 SSD

What proton version/distro/nvidia driver version are you running on? I'm on Manjaro with Proton Experimental and Mesa 24.2.8-1 (AMD card) and ray tracing works completely fine out of the box. I know that with older versions of Proton/Mesa while RT existed it wasn't enabled by default - I'm not 100% sure with Nvidia, but maybe you need to pass some launch arguments to explicitly enable RT? I'm seeing a few posts around the net that suggest setting "PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1" in the launch arguments, but not sure if that's still necessary or if it is if that's all that's necessary to get it working and without an nvidia card I can obviously not test that myself.

My linux setup is Kubuntu 24.10 with nvidia 565.77 driver and proton experimental on steam.
I already tried that launch argument and a lot more. No mater what I tryed, I couldn't make SE2 détectmy graphic card properly. The thing is, My card is use to render the game. nvidia_smi show an increase in gpu utilisation when I play the game. And even with everything maxout I have a stable 60fps wihtout FSR at 1440p. I also try to run RTX on other games (Control, Portal RTX and cyberpunk 2077) and I have ray tracing and good performance at 1440p.
I am reay not sure what I do wrong on SE2 but I realy want to know what is appenning.

Hm, then I also don't know what could be going on - maybe some peculiarity in the RT implementation that makes it not like the nvidia drivers on Linux. Sorry I couldn't help, hope you'll figure it out at some point (or it gets fixed)

I'm interested in that, as I have the same issue.
Debian stable with nvidia stable driver 550 (installed from the .run).
Proton eggroll 9.23
Liquorix kernel 6.12.9
I have the same issue with the riftbreaker, probably some drivers version, or mesa ? Atm it's not very important for me, as I have a older cpu, but I'm interested to know why we have that issue.

I get the same I'm on Mint 22.1
nvidia drivers 575
Proton experimental
when the game first starts up it tells me my system dose not meet the minimum requirements. So don't think the game is detecting nvidia cards properly.
