We should be able to partial copy a holographic part of a grid in Survival

I got to the point where the game asks you to create your first hydrogen ship. I want to design the whole ship in hologram before I start building it. I place a few block as holograms and I like the group and want to blueprint it and reuse it. I cannot, because Ctrl+P doesn't work on holograms, only welded blocks.

The first time I tried this system, I was extremely disappointed.
They did it the dumb way. Thanks guys. Way to make your new tools very unuseful.
I lay things out before I weld them.
To make sure I like them.
I can still do that, but I can't use any of the tools that are supposed to make all the extra block placement from unified grid... easier instead of harder. So for me... it's pretty unhelpful, and basically just down right irritating.
Oh yeah, AND to copy part of the grid, I have to manufacture the components to make all the parts to BUILD that part of the grid... So I CAN copy it to paste elsewhere. What happens when I've changed my mind? Too bad. You made that ORE into those COMPONENTS. Now you are stuck with them, and maybe you don't need or want them.... and you have to go dig up more ore.

Um, I believe I have been able to put a blueprint on another blueprint before I build them. I have to do it every time I start a new world for each release.

this urked me a bit too... i endedup welding a single plate of each bit and blueprinting the incomplete grid a few times. but its annoying to do that, timewise and materials wise sometimes.
