Mouse Input Stutter

Steps to reproduce:

Move mouse in circular motion, or consistently in a direction (i.e horizontally)

Compare to using arrow keys to move the camera, in which case it does not occur.

Mouse input periodically stops then snaps to expected position, this does not correlate to game freezing / game stutter, it's the input itself freezing as evident by the attached video, character movement seems to still continues as the mouse input stutters.

It does not occur in other games / software, and additionally I have tried with multiple difference mice.

Example video attached.

Mouse acceleration is something that oftentimes causes stuttering in games, Id reccomend checking that acceleration is off and check in the menus wether or not theres a mouse acceleration option.

Id also check task manager to see if any of your cores are spiking while your testing. SE2 is currently not optimized afaik, i had stuttering, but whenever i did it was one of my 16 threads hitting 100% (leaving task manager open in the background then tabbing out lets you see the results, but you have to change the diagram option to logical cores instead of all cores to see anything useful)

I do not have mouse acceleration on. It being a performance issue was also my first assumption however it's not a actual stutter, the character still moves as seen in the second mouse freeze in the video, and additionally the FPS graph doesn't show any stutter when it occurs, there's no spikes correlating to the event on any cores, and additionally it does not occur when using arrow keys to move the camera, I'm fairly confident it's specifically a input processing issue.

Some information - I was experiencing the same issue where every 5-10 seconds the game would run in slow motion or slightly pause but my framerate has been constant 90+. I opened debug menu > "Encounter" > "Delete all encounter (unsafe)" and instantly fixed all stutter.

So this appears to be something related to all grids/encounters happening out in the world causing physics or cpu lag.

I have had something of an odd mouse stutter, but, I think I can demonstrate it in a different way and have a suggestion for what it may be.

Version 2.3.0.2798

To replicate I sit in a grid and use the Left ALT to look around.

- Pan the camera slowly and it will pan smoothly.

- Pan the camera quickly and the camera will seem to stop and bounce back slightly.

I have attached a video trying to show this best I can and added a mouse overlay to it to see what the mouse was doing when I was at the extreme end of the panning. When I fully pan my mouse to the right as in the video the mouse input starts to flicker up and down, not just right, and then the camera will bounce back around the opposite direction. I get the same profile of the overlay showing flickering up/down inputs when I try pan the cursor right on the desktop and hit the edge of the screen.

I have no acceleration configured for the mouse. My system resources are stable whilst I am testing.

Setting DPI makes it quite a lot easier to test. If I set at 400 DPI it is impossible for me to replicate the issue. If I set it at 6400 DPI the camera bounces an awful lot as I pan quickly.

It is difficult to capture in a video, but if you are just the character and pan the camera around very quickly with a DPI like 26000 the input will also stutter and freeze.

My suspicion is that the rate at which the cursor is being brought back to the middle of the screen is slow and the cursor is therefore hitting the boundary at the edge of the screen which causes issues. It seems to bring the cursor to centre a lot quicker for the character vs the grids.

As a small addendum to the above.

The issue can be magnified significantly by lowering the resolution to minimum, increase mouse sensitivity in game to maximum, and increase DPI to maximum. Spinning in a grid or as the character will start to freeze and stutter on the inputs.

It takes a little bit for me to make it happen and I run a rig that has many less horses than some others experiencing issues. I would recommend to anyone running Windows 11 that is really struggling to disable windows indexing service, I found it would often run even when I would be using the machine and would floor me in whatever I was doing taking so much CPU.
