For some reason solar panels not working. Batteries not charging. No cloud cover, Sun is up.

Thanks for reporting this! Been a thorn in the side of a few others. I noticed that I was able to build solar panels BEFORE unlocking them as a contract reward.

the output varies between 0kW and 385kW even tho they are all equally positioned. If I remove the solar panel and rebuild it at the exact same position, it produces a different amount of energy

I've had less problems with the larger solar panels on a stationary base.

I've also noticed that the wind turbine will produce 0 if placed on block that has a conveyer face. So I'm kind of convinced that the logic for energy generation requires that panels and batteries only be on armor blocks. If they are on anything else, it might be treating it as not connected.

I have the same issue! Also, reactors don't work in Survival mode. I found out that if I switch the save to Creative mode, both the solar panels and reactors start working correctly. But as soon as I switch back to Survival mode, they stop working again.

I;'ve done some more tests:

The game provided ships (bullfrog) appear to never run out of battery. These ships have one battery and two storage containers.

Buildings that make physical contract with the ground, never run out of power, they need one battery, but they will show like 1% charge.

Power doesn't seem to cross rotors. If I put solar panels on the part connected with the ground, it will charge the batteries, but everything on the rotor side will show no power use and no chargeing. If I put a wind turbine on the rotor side, it actually says "it will not work on a moving platform" or something.

More research is necessary, but I literately found that I've built three different configurations of drill platforms and all of them seem to just never run out of power, no matter how many drills I put on it. I did find that once the "moving" platform got around 1 million kg of resources, for some reason the rotor stops working and can't overcome gravity. But it will still sit there with the battery at 1%, and the power use at 0 on the UI.

It is my guess that power generation is supposed to transfer past rotors and pistons, but generators are supposed to be connected to the primary grid. It seems like solar "should" work on a moving platform, but it seems to generate 0 on the platform side.
