Automatic block naming when placing multiple blocks

Would it be possible to create a name set for blocks prior to placing it down, e.g. after creating your corridors (or rooms, ships, etc) you want to place light blocks in/on them by selecting the light block, renaming it to (for example) "Main Corridor Light" and once you start placing the lights it would append numbers to it automatically, like "Main Corridor Light 01(02)(03)(etc)" as you place them. This would make finding the correct lights in a massive list of lights so much easier. I was just using the light blocks as an example. This could also be useful for thrusters, turrets, or any block.

Curious your thoughts on a similar idea I had, which is a renaming tool similar to the paint tool. Point it at a functional block such as a light or thruster, have a right click function to open a window to type an individual name, or use an R menu like the paint tool to set a name ahead of time (with a checkbox for numbering or not) and left click to apply.

I would like something similar to this for ships if I name a cockpit I would like all the blocks by add to that grid to be appended with the same name as an option so that I can identify it when it’s stopped at base with other ships or in a mega ship.
