Ore deposite size detection

Some of the ore deposits I found in the polar mountains are so small as to be not worth the dig.
It would be useful if ore detection included some idea of the size of the ore deposit.

The boulders are everywhere, but only contain iron, yet I am surrounded by mountains of rock and miniscule deposits of silicon ore.

I would really like to see a different approach for prospecting for minerals other than wield tool be Close.

I like this idea. It would make us dig less which is very good for many reasons.
Also, if there are many ores close together, I would like them to stack together and when you look at it, the single icon should expand into a list with entries ach having ore icon and its estimated volume (or concentration if we ever have compound ores in game :) )
