Drill ship wont drill correctly

I've been having issues drilling through asteroids, so I decided to engineer a drill ship that should plow through an asteroid like butter. Screenshot attached. It appears that only 4 or 5 drills are allowed to drill at any one time. It also appears that something that the tip of the drills does not work, only at a slight angle. The smaller size drills seem to work faster and better than the large drills that I have on this ship.

I have to keep forward pressure and even then, the drills act like they are dull. They are extremely inefficient and require a non-flat surface to be able to drill the ore. The drill shop can only make a minor indentation before it becomes leveled, and the drill ship will no longer drill while at a 90-degree angle to the ore.

I do not know if the ships are limited to only 4 drills collecting ore at one time or some other issue exists where the tips do not cut into the ore, so the drills come in contact with the ore and cannot move forward.

These large drills are spaced as close together as a workaround for voxel material being missed between the drills when they are placed 1 full 2.5m block apart.

I've attached my blueprint folder here as will.

Trying drilling again with small drill, there is a problem with mining.

RMB digging is OK but mining through stone does not work.

Mining ore does not work properly too, I have to wiggle the drill around and change approach angle to get any resource gathering done.

I am using a 3 x 4 set of drills, I have checked for stray micro chunks of voxel and can not see any. If I am able cut into the ore deposit from a different angle I can excavate more ore, but then it stops again. I am prevented by this problem from mining deeper ores as I can not come in at a different angle unless I start excavating much more stone.

Tried pasting my mining ship into a fresh world in creative mode.

Same thing happens.

I have verified my files on steam

When using a single drilling block there does not appear to be a problem.

I think that the problem occurs when there is an array of drill blocks working together.

I got help on discord, and placed the drills only 0.5m apart and this looks like it is working.

When they were 1.5m apart it looked like everything was being cleared, but I guess that something that I could not see or drill away was being left behind to prevent me from drilling further.

I am only running medium graphics, but I thought that would be able to see if there was some voxel left behind.

My smallest possible miner ship is only 50cm taller than the drill (because of cockpit ofc) and yet I can barely fit into the hole I make when using terrain cleaning mode. When it comes to actually mine ore, you quickly become stuck in the voxels. Please increase mining radius for drills so small enough mining ships can easily fit into hole you make and rotate. Plus having at least gravity alignment on HUD would be VERY good to have.

The drill radius should be such that it should be possible to leave a gap between drills where you can see through from a cockpit placed behind the drills. As it is now, the drills have to so close to each other that the view is completely obstructed.

Hello Engineers,

I have reported this issue internally and added this thread to our internal ticket (SE2-30064).
