Vertical movement not working in gravitational field.

Solved

In a gravitational field:

Current behavior: pressing "c" to move down if I do not have downwards thrusters, my ship refuses to move downwards. If I do have downwards thrusters, it only moves down with their acceleration, not their acceleration plus gravity. If I move up without downwards thrusters, after letting go of the space bar, my ship infinitely floats upwards unless I turn off my dampeners.

Expected behavior: pressing "c" to move down will move my ship down with the acceleration of gravity, plus the acceleration of my downwards thrusters, if I have any. Moving up without downwards thrusters, once I release space bar, my ship should lose vertical velocity at the gravity's acceleration plus my downward thruster's acceleration - or only gravity's acceleration if dampeners are off of course.

V.39 same problem, the ship or jetpack don't have enough power to lift planet ground without dampener being ON.

I've had this too and personally I think it's keen trying to outsmart us. When you turn off the dampeners it uncaps yourspeed and lets you fly way faster on battery and without the stupid hydrogen boost. Maybe it is a bug where the jetpack just isn't set right to the gravity and what not, balance and stuff. But i wouldn't be surprised if it is just to try cap us, in which case is ridiculous cause i liked flying without dampeners. You can always have control over the fine adjustments and things and if people want to do it let them. More dangerous anyways it's their choice to risk flying without.

I made my first ship from scratch for mining on a planet, and I've never put down thrusters on a ship when in gravity (in SE1). I was very surprised to see I couldn't move down without turning off dampeners.

I too have noticed that just about every ship I fly will be fine with dampeners enabled but won't stay up with dampeners disabled, even at max thrust.

Something very wierd going on, and I hope its not by design.

Same problem. Gravity has no effect with dampeners on.

Yes, I also reported this error and even attached a video.

you might want to clarify your title if possible, but i have definitely observed this as well.

It's as clarified as I could make it already, but if you have a better title idea let me know.

Hello Engineers,

This is a known issue that is already fixed on our internal environments and should be shipped as a part of VS2.2 release. I have added this thread to our internal ticket (SE2-28719).

As such, I will close this thread. Happy Engineering!

Kind Regards,
