Mine wood and rock
Not Enough Votes
There are tons of trees and rocks on the starter planet. Why not make them resources; have some primitive block types like wooden and cobblestone walls and floors, for settlements? Maybe a biomass generator and furnace? I hate that they added all that detail and its just there for eye candy.

Being able to have all these elements as functional resources seems indeed more fun to me as well.
I'm a big fan of the Apex Survival update in SE1. At the same time, I think it could have been done better, and I really like Splitsie's ideas on how to make that better. Now you can simply just live off Kelp Crisps forever. The only drawback is that you have to snack more regularly.
But reusing the algae as a fertilizer would make for a nice option. The same can be done with the vegetation. And I also like the bio reactor as a very low yield but also very inexpensive power source.
Having certain plants be input for things like radiation resistance substance could be interesting. Right now I'm playing the Europa start and being out even in shade or night is still killing you when not careful. The nice thing is that you then play differently and need to use drones a lot to get things done. But there are moments when not being able to be out and about a bit longer in just your suit makes things tedious. And only being able to get this radiation resistance from unknown signals early on makes is too much of an unobtanium.
Now, I haven't heard anything yet on food and other biological hazard plans for SE2, but this would fit nicely in there.
