Light Armor 0.5m Variants Instant-Weld

In Survival Mode, there seems to be a big discrepancy between weld speed and grind speed with the 0.5m Armor blocks.
They will weld instantly from the projection, but then take around ~5 seconds to grind away.
I have the same bug You can't vote. Please authorize!
UPDATE: Did a little more testing. Doesn't seem to matter which tier Welder I use. Going from Projection to Block is instant with the Light Armor 0.5m Variants. If I grind down the blocks partially, THEN the block will weld normally and progress through the build states.
So the probably seems to be going from the Projection to actually Welding the block.
