unable to complete engineering - lost asteroid

during the contract the mission will fail. No reason given,
sometimes i am mining the silicone, sometimes i am mining the iron....
sometimes it fails before i finish solar panels, sometimes it fails after, but, accepting the contract resets it. Feels like it is timing out, but there is no timer given and no obvious reason as to why it fails. (I have not died once and tried 5 times to complete it)

I think the problem with the lost asteroid mission is that the containers spawn in 0.01g, and so one of them gets pulled down to the planet, and upon hitting it explodes failing the mission.
