Search missions are hard.

I feel search missions are hard. Even on the flat Mars the thing is not easy because the grid is very small. Not to mention on Earth where there are high slopes and the small grid could be anywhere.

Maybe decreasing the radius or some sort od rudimental radar, like increasing blips as you get close.

Suggestion: start search missions during the night. All grids that need to be found have a blinking light for which you can look for by doing a flyby of the area for 20 seconds [on Mars], no biggie. On earth however the flyby might take up to two minutes because some of the vegetation might obstruct your view of the small grid container.

It's a problem for Search missions on planets/moons, in space it's more open and there is better contrast.
