Regarding the AFK timeout

Space Engineers is a game where being AFK is a common thing and adding an AFK timeout option is imo a bad idea.

Why I don't like the AFK timeout option:

1. Flying long distances might require to be AFK (with dampners off or with auto pilot)

2. Waiting for production of a large amount of components might require to be AFK

3. A lot of things in SE can be automated, which again might require to be AFK

4. If you get kicked out for being AFK you might lose your inventory items if you were not in a cryo chamber/bed


Solution:

Other requirements other than being AFK for a set amount of time for the player to be kicked

I have a jump drive for long distances, but yeah I agree with all your other points.

There is also the issue of having to charge the battery on a newly built ship, have to sit there a while to ensure it's getting charged and not going to get deleted for lack of power when you leave.

Normally I try to find something to build. repair or sort while something time consuming is in progress. Not always practical if I'm out of PCU or there is nothing else that needs doing.

Given how long it takes to connect to a SE server, I see an AKF timer as a waste of time/CPU resources/bandwidth.

Hi AFK settings is part of the world settings. By default it's 15 mins and admins can turn it off.

Yes, I know. But that doesn't fix the issue, as 15 minutes is a small amount of time for a game like SE. Most servers will probably have the AFK timeout set to default, because the hosts don't really care.

The AKF timer is also very bad for new players who are not starting out on a place like the moon, and you have to mine for stone, and sometimes wait around for the sun to come up if the sun rotation is set for an hour which is past the 15 min mark. You can't do much but wait around for the sun if you don't have any power for your base.

Please don't make 15 minutes the default, make it a more sensible middle value like 1 hour.

We don't need a repeat of the Trash Removal that deletes player's half finished builds when they go get more materials.

Maybe if it included a warning like "You are about to be kicked for AFK, please move".
